Luc specializes in all aspects of commercial real estate, with special emphasis on greenfield (raw land) development and infill redevelopment (including contaminated brownfields). His clients appreciate his extensive knowledge of the law, sound judgment, and ability to understand their unique issues. They rely on his advice in a wide range of matters, including:

  • Land purchases and sales
  • Financing and joint venture structures
  • Developments, including cost-sharing arrangements, for owner groups
  • Preparation for common-element and standard condominiums
  • Volume sales of residential lots, blocks, and condos

Luc also has expertise with multi-use complex strata title projects, and has consulted for other lawyers on technical legal matters involving title, land transfer tax, and Planning Act issues.

Before joining Merovitz Potechin LLP in March 2024, Luc was in private practice for 22 years at a large national firm and midsize firms in Toronto and Ottawa, and for a further 5 years as in-house counsel at a large real estate development company.

Luc received a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Microbiology/Immunology from Dalhousie University in 1991 and his Juris Doctor degree (cum laude) from the University of Western Ontario Law School in 1995.

Luc also served as a Director on the Board of Family Services Ottawa from 2020 to 2022. He has been an active member of numerous associations and was a member-at-large on the executive of the Real Property Section of the CBA/OBA from 2004–07 and 2016-2017. He was also a member of the Award of Excellence Committee for the OBA from 2005–07.
